I am a textile and surface designer whose studio practice exists at an intersection between textiles, sound, and performance.

I completed the Leverhulme Trust-funded Surface Bursary Scheme at London Printworks Trust in November 2010. During the residency, I developed my burgeoning interest in cross-modal experiences, especially within textiles and sound, and my projects evolve from collaborations with sound and software engineers, musicians, scientists and other creative practitioners.

In addition to my continuing studio and research practice, I am a regular collaborator on David Littler’s Sampler-Culture Clash, an international, ongoing and open-ended investigation exploring the connections between DJ-ing and embroidery, both of which have the word ‘sampler’ in common.

I have worked closely with Littler to develop and deliver participatory workshops in a variety of settings and with a wide range of people including older women from the New Embroidery Group, professional practitioners at the inaugural Craft Rally at Chelsea School of Art & Design, and with families at the Hub (the National Centre for craft and design).

I was successfully nominated for the Nobelini prize in association with the Central St Martin’s College and the Medical Research Council, and worked with biologist Jay Stone on ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Negative’, an examination of how negative data can be put to good use.

I studied at Art School Berlin, and at Central St Martin’s College of Art & Design on the MA Design for Textile Futures course.
Since October 2010, I am undertaking a four-year full time PhD in Media and Arts Technology at Queen Mary University of London, where I joined the Antenna & Electromagnetics Research Group in November 2011. My interdisciplinary practice-based research focus is on e-textile antennas, using a variety of conductive and responsive materials, such as electroactive polymers and liquid crystal dye systems.
